SUB-BOARDS
The camp is at the base of Heaven’s Peak, a large mountain with a range of other mountains beyond it. The pack makes their home in the caves that were carved out over time into the sides of the mountain, some becoming deep tunnels. Each one has a use: leader’s den, where they and their partner sleep; the healer’s den, where they keep all their herbs and sleep; the warrior’s den, where all the warriors sleep; the whelp’s den, where all the whelps sleep; and finally the nursery, where dames and their pups stay. There is even a waterfall the flows over into a river that runs right by their camp, making it easy for them to get water.
To the east of camp is the plains, an area with a few trees dotted about. Most of is relatively flat, practically the opposite of the mountain that looms above it. This is a normally quiet place where one can listen to the sounds of the birds as they sing and flutter about, pecking at the ground for worms. The plains is good for keeping an eye out for enemies, as there’s very few places to hide, but it means the you are also without much cover. Still, it’s a lovely little place to just come and sit a while.
The river lies to the south of camp and is created by the waterfall that runs down the mountainside. It ebbs and flows, turning in a loop around a patch of land to make something of a peninsula between Heaven’s Peak territory and the fields beyond. Luckily those that don’t know how to swim have the option of two different wooden bridges, one heading south to the fields and one heading west into the Sentinel Woods. The pack insists that they were put their by their Ancestors to give them an easier way to cross, but the reality is humans built them long ago.
The Sentinel Woods is a forest of evergreen trees, with a large, sloping stone near the southern edge that canines can walk on and see out over the vast expanse of territory that the packs roam. Its top comes a few feet above the trees, making it a great lookout point to make sure no enemies are coming over the horizon. There is almost always at least one canine stationed here on guard except in the most treacherous weather, the pack not wanting to relieve the time that they were ambushed and many of the pack slaughtered. Never again, they vow.
