Appearance
Beyond her silkier pelt in summer and faintly curled tail, it is not entirely clear whether Lumiera's wolf side or dog side is strongest; although residing in Sawtooth, that is not entirely relevant. Her fur is mostly white with streaks of silver, almost pale as snow in summer with a peppered splotch of black from just behind her shoulders to the first few inches of her upper tail, will from her forehead to just before the streak remains a silvery grey. In winter when her coat is longer and shaggier, the markings across her back and shoulders appear darker and more prominent, giving her a mantle of black and grey. To break from this monochromacy, Lumiera's eyes are a warm amber.
Personality
There is no ignoring the calming aura that Lumiera seems to radiate, with her relaxed and peaceful nature seemingly stretching over all those around her like a warm blanket. With patience and an optimistic worldview, it is rare to see Lumiera outwardly ruffled. She tends to take most situations with a pleasant smile, believing strongly in second chances, and trying to see the world from the perspective of others. This serves to make Lumiera a kind and understanding canine with a heart for peace but does not necessarily make her a good leader.
Inexperienced and far too forgiving, many see Lumiera's calm and accepting nature as a weakness. They see someone who lacks the inner strength to set rules and truly enforce them, someone too lenient for her own good and the good of her pack. Lumiera can be hesitant to make decisions, always desiring the best outcome, but it leaves her looking indecisive and unprepared; which is not entirely false. She knows what she wants for her pack, and she is clear on that, but many believe she doesn't know how to get it.
Despite this, Lumiera sees her pack as family. The harder decisions of leadership weigh heavily upon her, especially without a stronger knowledge on how to handle them, but she is hopeful of a bright future for her pack. She treats every member as an equal, and will always put her pack before herself. The thought of them getting hurt by her command is a painful one, but she knows that at some point this will be inevitable. Part of her hopes that her deputy will be ready quickly to take leadership out of her paws, for while she does not wish to burden others, she is not sure she can make the necessary choices.
Beyond her working role, Lumiera has not however abandoned her more youthful characteristics. As young and brightly natured as she is, Lumiera retains her curiosity, as well as a more playful side. She enjoys entertaining pups with play or stories and has always been happy to romp with whelps or other adults if they find themselves in a playful mood. She does not see sense in restricting the fun of life, and while she will not judge anyway poorly for being too serious, she will often encourage those around her to lighten up and relax.

History
Despite the rumors among the younger generation and those beyond her pack, Lumiera was indeed born among Sawtooth. With a wolf for a mother and an abandoned husky-german shepherd cross for a father, she is indeed an odd mix between dog and wolf in both appearance and personality, right from the moment she was just a little pup. However, that makes her no house pet, no matter her curiosity of humans.
This curiosity was not difficult to notice, even before Lumiera could take more than a few stumbling steps. Every scent seemed to draw her in like a moth to a flame, and once her paws were under her and she had sight and hearing at her aid, there was little stopping her. It's a wonder that such a boundless ball of energy became the calm canine she grew into, but life always did find a way.
In time, as Lumiera grew from a wild pup, through a spirited whelp, to a mature young warrior, she caught the eye of another; her leader. It began innocently enough. With his tendency to gravitate toward building up those surrounded by doubt, suspicion, or low expectations, it was no surprise that in the face of everyone's expectation for Lumiera to be a pup-carer and nothing else, he took her under his wing and sought to prove otherwise.
But things did not remain so simple. In time his want to show she could be more than what others perceived of her blurred with his growing affection, and perhaps in a show of love or attempt to claim her heart, he made her his deputy when the time came for a new one to be named. Even in Sawtooth, such clear nepotism was frowned upon. To name someone so clearly unprepared and frankly ill-fitting was one thing - but to name them out of affection, rather than necessity? To say such a choice earned backlash was entirely different. Innocent and understanding as she was, Lumiera was quick to offer that perhaps their leader should change his mind, listen to his pack. But he had always been a stubborn wolf.
To make a bad situation worse, Lumiera's deputyship was short-lived, and not in the sense that was hoped for. The pack had known for a few seasons now that there was something off about their leader. A strange inexplicable weakness, a sickness with neither a source nor a cure. And yet the moment he was forced to step down from leadership and retire to the constant care of the healers' den still came as a shock. Unschooled and unprepared, Lumiera was thrust into leadership so fast it might have knocked the wind out of her. No more than two months later, he passed, and she was left to figure things out alone.
