Deep in the swamp is the Limberlost camp. A small lake lay in the center, surrounded on all sides by old trees that have fallen over and become hollow homes to the canines that live there. The hollow trunks are massive where the trees that had fallen were truly ancient. It almost looks as if they were pushed over by some powerful, spiritual force, as most natural disasters couldn’t even fell such trees. Limberlost says it’s a sign from the Ancestors. The other packs say it was probably just humans. Either way, the hollow trunks provide nice protection from the elements for the pack.

To the north of camp are pillars that look like they belong to an old, Roman temple lie cracked and broken. Their once pearly white exterior is now marred by mud and muck—or what can be seen of them, that is. Many have sunken deep into the bog and are barely visible now save for a few feet. Sometimes whelps like to try to scramble up onto them to look around, though the smooth surface makes it difficult and the tops are rough where they broke off years ago. Still, this is a wonderful area to find frogs and toads for those that actually like them.

To the southeast of camp is the Weepingroot, a gigantic weeping willow tree. Its significance is unknown, but the Limberlost insist it must have some meaning, as it is the tallest tree in all the swamp and even the forests beyond. The only thing that can match its height is the rock in Sentinel Woods. There are, however, many creatures that like to curl beneath its branches on a hot summer’s day. Swamp rabbits are often found snuggled into the roots and can become easy prey if snuck up on quietly.

The Limberlost Swamp is a vast bog that many outside the Limberlost pack find… displeasing to be in. The land is saturated with water, each step soaking paws. Limberlost is a freshwater swamp, so it’s not like the wet paws really hurt anyone, but most prefer to be dry. It doesn’t help that beneath the cypress trees deeper bodies of water can be found and in them lurks something truly dangerous—alligators. All canines learn quickly to just avoid any of the giant reptiles, which are thankfully few and far between.
