Elder Ceremony
An elder ceremony is performed when a canine has aged, gotten too ill, or is too injured to serve the Pack any longer. Around the age of 84 months (7 years) most canines will begin to feel their age and decide to retire. When they make this decision, they will tell their Pack leader and a Pack meeting will be called.
Leader: Is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?
Warrior: It is.
Leader: Your Pack honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon our ancestors to give you many months of rest.
The Pack will then call out the retired warrior’s name, and after the retired warrior will go to the elder’s den.
