Leadership Ceremony

A leadership ceremony happens when the former leader dies, retires, or is exiled and the deputy takes the place of the old leader. While they don’t get nine lives like their cat counterparts, they still have somewhat of a ceremony they attend.

The new leader goes to the Sacred Ruins with one of the Pack’s healers. After drinking from the pool, the two begin to dream and are able to speak with their ancestors. The ancestors will greet the two, then begin.

Ancestor: I, (Ancestor), have watched you for a long time, (New Leader). You have trained hard to understand the ways of our code, and I commend you for your loyalty. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and use it to protect and defend your Pack, even at the cost of your life?

New Leader: I do.

Ancestor: Then by my power, I grant you the rank of leader of (Pack). We honor your (virtues), and hope that you will use them to lead your Pack to greatness.
The ancestor then rests their muzzle on the new leader’s head, and the new leader licks their ancestor’s shoulder. The ancestors around them chant the new leader’s name, and soon they awake.
